I love watching documentaries, so when I came across the Real Stories YouTube channel, I really hit the jackpot.
Real Stories has hundreds of full-length documentaries available free of charge, on a wide range of subjects, all sorted neatly into playlists, and updated regularly.
I thought I’d put together a selection of the documentaries that I found the most interesting, so if you want to check them out, they’re listed below!
1. The End of the World Cult
Wayne Bent, also known as Michael Travesser, is the leader of a small cult in New Mexico, where he has convinced his followers that he is the Messiah and that the end of the world is imminent. Days after this documentary aired, Bent was arrested for criminal sexual contact with minors.
2. My Dad is a Woman
Follow the stories of Jane Fae and Michelle as they talk about their struggles with gender dysphoria and their transitions from male to female.
3. Meet the Mormons
An interesting look at the Mormon practice of being “set apart”, following a young man called Josh (Elder Field) who becomes a Mormon missionary.
4. Two Mums and a Dad
This documentary follows the story of a lesbian couple and a gay man who decide to have a baby together.
5. A Mother’s Love
This documentary looks at the case of Terri Milbrandt, who conned her community out of thousands of dollars to pay for her daughter’s fake cancer treatment.
If you enjoyed these, I’d definitely recommend checking out the Real Stories YouTube channel for more amazing, free documentaries.
