Questions for Self-Discovery

I found this list of journal prompts for self-discovery on Pinterest, created by lavendaire.com, and I decided to take the questions and answer them here.

If you’re looking to learn a bit more about yourself, why don’t you copy these questions and answer them for yourself?

1. How do you feel at the moment?

Tired and hungry.

2. What do you need more of in my life?

Energy and money.

3. What would make you happy right now?

Having more energy and more money.

4. What is going right in your life?

I’m continuing with my ILS therapy, and I’m on track to start my EMDR therapy soon.

5. What are you grateful for? List at least ten things.

My cats, my family, my house, having enough food and water, creativity, friendship, nature, second chances, new opportunities, being alive.

6. When did you experience joy this week?

When I was lying in bed and both of my cats came and snuggled into me and starting purring.

7. List all your small victories and successes.

Engaging in therapy for a full year, and having no MH-related hospital admissions for a full year.

8. What’s bothering you? Why?

The fact that I’m hungry. Because I get hangry.

9. What are your priorities at the moment?

Completing my therapy and getting myself well.

10. What do you love about yourself?

I’m a caring person and I’m very supportive.

11. Who means the world to you and why?

My cats, because they’re a constant in my life, and they always love me no matter what.

12. If you could share one message with the world, what would it be?

Don’t be a dick.

13. What advice would you give your younger self? (Do you follow this advice now?)

Don’t worry about what other people think about you. I try to follow this now, but I’m still working on it.

14. What lesson did you learn this week?

That I need to be more assertive.

15. If you had all the time in the world, what would you want to do first?

I’d probably go back to university and finish my MSc.

16. What’s draining your energy? How can you reduce or cut it out?

Mental illness. I’m working on reducing it by going to therapy and engaging in my treatment.

17. What does your ideal morning look like?

Waking up naturally, having a cup of tea, smelling the fresh air.

18. What does your ideal day look like?

Spending time writing, cuddling with my cats, taking time to enjoy nature.

19. What makes you come alive? When was the last time you felt truly alive?

I truly come alive when I’m writing about something I’m passionate about. I’ve started feeling that since I started my blog.

20. What/who inspires you the most? What are you drawn to those inspirations?

I’m inspired by anyone who has battled with mental illness and gone on to do amazing things.

21. Where does your pain originate? What would need to happen for you to heal?

My pain originates from my childhood/teenage years. As I said before, I’m starting EMDR therapy in January, and I hope this will help me to heal.

22. What are your strengths? What are you really good at?

I think I’m alright at writing/blogging.

23. What is something you’ve always wanted to do but were too scared?

Singing lessons.

24. What is something you would love to learn?

How to sing.

25. What hobbies would you like to try?

Singing…

26. Where would you want to live in your ideal life?

In a cabin next to a lake.

27. Where would you like to travel in the next five years?

Norway and/or Finland.

28. What can you do to take better care of yourself?

Stop smoking.

29. When have you done something that you thought you couldn’t do?

When I started blogging and kept it going. I thought I’d give up straight away.

30. At the end of your life, what do you want your legacy to be?

I want to be remembered for being a nice person. That’s all.
